About us

History:

Notable String Instruments Australia (NSIA) is the brainchild of Dietrich Lasa who immigrated to Australia in 1985. He was a member of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra before joining the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in 1985 as a viola player. He also taught at the Conservatorium of Music and at schools for the Department of Education.

In 1993 Dietrich started a 'violin shop' from his garage, named 'Strings Attached.' This business moved to its first shop on Musgrave Rd in Brisbane in 1996 under the name of Animato.

From 2011, Animato Strings sourced international suppliers that would meet its desired standard. In 2018, after the closure of Lamberti Bros, Animato Strings officially formed its wholesale department under the name of 'Notable String Instruments Australia' (NSIA). NSIA took over Lamberti's remaining stock in Doerfler bows and is now distributing, amongst other things, almost the complete range of Doerfler bows. NSIA also acquired the distribution of Paesold bows in Australia.

NSIA's range of fine string instruments aims at the advanced musician and professional.

Retailers are encouraged to use their own labelling and setup. In this way, the sale of these attractive instruments is not bound by any RRP. The listed RRP serves only as an indication and as the basis for calculating the net prices but the RRP of the instruments is not binding in any way.

There is also the option to have the instruments set up by NSIA (for a fee). By default, all instruments come with fitted pegs and endpins only.
